WELLINGTON COUNTY 50¶È»ÒÊÓƵ“ Local police continued to lay racing charges throughout the county recently. Among those charged with performing a stunt (excessive speed) were:
– a Mapleton driver, 18, on April 25 on Wellington Road 7 in Mapleton;Ìý
– Mississauga driver, 29, April 27, Hanlon Expressway, Guelph;Ìý
– Toronto driver, 34, April 27, Highway 6, Wellington North (also charged with driving while suspended);
– two Mount Forest drivers, 28 and 34, observed racing on Tower Street South in Fergus on April 29;
– Waterloo driver, 27, April 29, Hanlon Expressway, Guelph (also charged with failing to properly wear a seatbelt);
– Amaranth driver, 21, May 3, Wellington Road 17, Mapleton (also charged with driving without a licence and driving without a permit);
–Ìý Guelph driver, 25, May 7, Wellington Road 7, Centre Wellington; and
– Fergus driver, 35, May 7, Wellington Road 7, Centre Wellington (also charged with driving without a valid permit).
In the above incidents the driver50¶È»ÒÊÓƵ™s licence and the vehicle were seized for seven days. It50¶È»ÒÊÓƵ™s not clear why it took police two to three months to report theses incidents to the media.
